The Do's & Don'ts of Network Cabling

There are right ways and wrong ways to install network cabling. Today, we are going to share those secrets with you! Below are the do's and don'ts of network cabling.

Do's
  • Cable length really does matter! You don't want to have a cable that is too long or too short.
  • Cables should be kept cool and dry. Be sure to store your cables in a dry and cool place.
  • Keep in mind that you may need to add cables in the future. When your business grows, you may need additional cables to support that growth.
Don'ts
  • Try to avoid long patch leads. They should only be used if they are absolutely necessary.
  • Never place your cables next to other electrical cables. After all, doing so could result in an interference.
  • Do not put a lot of cables onto a cable tray. If you do, it will decrease the effectiveness of the signal.
