Ways To Build Rapport During A Phone Call

If you are in sales and do cold calling on a daily basis, you know how challenging it can be. Every good salesperson understands the importance of establishing a rapport with customers and clients. Below are some tips that will help you do just that.

Take A Stand
Did you know that sitting down can have a negative impact on the inflection of your voice? Now you do! When you stand up or walk around while talking on the phone, you will come across as enthusiastic and passionate. It will be harder for prospects to turn down an offer from someone who is so eager and animated.

Ask Questions
On a sales call, the salesperson should not do all of the talking. It is important for them to ask the prospect questions and discover what their needs are. Once the prospect uncovers what their pain points are, the salesperson can explain why their product or service is the solution to the problem at hand. This will also make the phone call feel less generic and more personalized.

Follow Up
Even if the first call did not result in a closed deal, it is the responsibility of the salesperson to follow up with them a second time. After all, the prospect may have a lot going on and could have forgotten about it. At the same time, do not pester or annoy them by making multiple phone calls. Keeping a call log with detailed notes can help you stay organized and maintain positive relationships with prospects.
